My yearlong project of capturing fun in our area is complete! I’ve noted some of the resources I used below – there are some real gems in there!
A few final events for July (but last year’s list will show, too!): A highlight of last summer was a trip to Traverse City’s Cherry Festival; in a review of this year’s schedule, I highly recommend going on Sunday, July 2 – with the Arts and Crafts Fair plus Blue Angels plus the cherries (galore!), it’s a delight. We also did a Kayak, Bike & Brew that afternoon, which was delightful. I’ve heard wonderful things about the Chicago Botanic Gardens, and the Garden Art Festival seems like the perfect time to experience it. Another reason to head to Chicago? Taste of Chicago happens this week. Want to go for a drive on a nice day? The Quilt Gardens in Elkhart County gives beautiful purpose to cruising on nice days, with quiet surprises at every stop. DTSB’s Wine Walks are great, but three cheers for the July shift to a Beer Walk. You’ll find delicious treats paired with satisfying swigs of beer.
Downtown Mishawaka has so many delightful corners, and the Kamm Island Fest shines the light on one with fun for those 21 and over. Shakescenes is a community treasure – if you want to love Shakespeare, let the children lead you! Or head to Chicago or Milwaukee for their Shakespeare in the Park Series! The Pitchfork Festival has an incredible lineup. Wrap up the month with a friend, your bike, and the fun of Urban Adventure Games on July 28.
